Yes. Digital wedding invitations are widely accepted, especially for guests who live far away or use WhatsApp every day. Many couples send digital invitations to everyone, and some also post printed cards to grandparents or elders who prefer paper. What matters is that the wording, timing and details are as clear as on a printed card.

Send wedding invitations six to eight weeks before the wedding. For a destination wedding or one on a holiday weekend, send them eight to twelve weeks ahead so guests can book travel. If you sent save the dates, the invitation can follow at the usual time, since guests already have the date.

Ask for replies three to four weeks before the wedding. That leaves time to chase the guests who have not answered, give the caterer final numbers and finish the seating plan. Write the reply-by date as a full date, such as “Kindly reply by the first of May”, rather than a number of weeks.

In traditional Western etiquette the bride’s name comes first, because her parents were the hosts. When both families or the couple host, either order is fine. In many Indian families the order follows who is sending the card, so each side may print its own child first. Pick one order and keep it everywhere.
