A short guide
Three to four weeks ahead suits most holiday and festival parties, because those weeks fill quickly with family plans and other invitations. For December parties, many hosts send in mid-November. For a smaller gathering or a festival date that is confirmed late, two weeks still works if you follow up.
Invite them warmly and explain a little. Say what will happen and roughly when, such as a short prayer before the meal, and what is welcome to wear. Mention food customs, and reassure guests they are welcome to watch or join in. A short, friendly note removes most of the worry.
They follow lunar or lunisolar calendars rather than the Gregorian calendar. Diwali and Holi are set by the Hindu lunisolar calendar, so they move within the same season. Eid follows the Islamic lunar calendar, which moves about eleven days earlier each year. Easter is also set by the moon.
Yes, briefly. Say whether a full meal is served or just sweets and snacks, and note anything guests should know, such as a vegetarian, halal or alcohol-free table. It helps guests plan, and it helps those with their own dietary or religious rules accept with confidence.
