A short guide
Name the event and the couple, say which family is hosting, and give the date, time and venue. Add a dress code or colour theme, and a line inviting guests to dance or perform. Sangeet wording can be light and fun, with a nod to songs or film lines the family loves.
Most hosts ask for bright, comfortable clothes, often in yellow, green or orange. Henna can stain, so light fabrics and short or rolled sleeves make it easier to have designs applied. If the family has a theme or a particular colour in mind, put it on the invitation so guests can plan their outfits.
It varies. In many families the mehendi is held in the day and the sangeet that evening or the next, both a day or two before the wedding. Others combine them into one night, or hold the sangeet after the haldi. There is no fixed order, so follow your family’s custom and the venue’s schedule.
Not if everyone invited to the wedding is also invited to the sangeet: list it in the wedding schedule with its own time and venue. Send a separate invitation when the sangeet is for a smaller circle, or when it is held in a different city or well before the wedding.
