A short guide
Most parents hold the party after the anatomy scan at about eighteen to twenty weeks, or after an earlier blood test that can show the baby’s sex from around ten weeks. Hold it within a few weeks of learning the result, so the secret does not have to be kept too long.
Send gender reveal invitations two to three weeks before the party. Because the date often depends on a scan, a short notice is normal, and a digital invitation helps. If you want family abroad to watch a video or call in, tell them even earlier so they can plan for the time difference.
Name the parents-to-be, and give the date, time, place and the time of the reveal itself. Add a playful line such as “He or she? Come and see”, and tell guests if they should wear pink or blue to show their guess. Ask for replies a few days before so you can plan food.
Gifts are not expected at a gender reveal, since most families hold a baby shower later. Many guests bring a small, neutral gift such as diapers, wipes or a book, or a dish to share. If the parents would rather keep it gift-free, a short note on the invitation saves guests from guessing.
